What is The Pit of Artificers

The Pit is a 15-minute dungeon where defeating as many monsters as possible before the timer runs out summon a Boss.

Each player death in the Pit removes time from the clock. The first death removes 30 seconds, second death removes 60 seconds, third and subsequent deaths will remove 90 seconds.

After you defeated enough monsters, a portal materializes, transporting you to the boss arena. Finish the boss before the timer runs out to earn get Masterworking materials.

After every Pit completion you unlock the next brutal tier(s) of it. Killing the boss with 4-6 minutes to spare, allows you to skip a level and unlock an additional Tier of the Pit. Killing the boss with 6 or more minutes to spare grants you two additional Tier unlocks. The Pit has a total of 200 level difficulties.

Rewards

The Pit can be entered in groups of up to four players. The player who spends the ‍Runeshards to open the Pit earns 100% of the regular amount of Masterworking materials. The other players receive only 50% of these materials. Only the opening player has the chance to receive ‍Stygian Stones.

‍Stygian Stones are used for summoning Tormented Bosses. These are Level 200 variants of all the summonable bosses in D4.

Higher Tiers of The Pit rewards you with more Stygian Stones and Masterworking Materials.

Masterworking Materials found in the Pit:

  • ‍Obducite —required to Masterwork items through Ranks 1 to 4. These can be found in Tier 1 to 29.

  • ‍Ingolith —required to Masterwork items through Ranks 5 to 8. These can be found in Tier 30 to 59.

  • ‍Neathiron —required to Masterwork items through Ranks 9 to 12. These can be found in Tier 60 and above.

How does the Pit function

The Pit is made of 2 floors. On both of these floors, the layout and the monsters are randomized.

  • Progression - Elite Monsters give the most amount of progression.

In the Pit, shrines can appear after reaching certain progression thresholds. The types "Artillery" and "Blast Wave" are disabled for the Pit of Artificers.

Monsters scale with the Pit Tier you selected. In the highest Tier 200 you will face level 300 Monsters. In the first Tier the monsters you face will be Level 100, so every Tier increases a monster's level by 1, same goes for Bosses.

  • Death Penalty - If you die in the Pit of Artificers, you will lose time. The first death removes 30 seconds, the second death removes 60 seconds, third and more deaths will remove 90 seconds.
